the saturated app is actually a GREEN flag, not a red one

There are 847 habit trackers on the App Store.

Streaks. Habitify. HabitNow. Done. Productive. Loop Habits. And 841 others nobody's heard of.

Most people see a number like that and just... close the tab.

"Too crowded. No point."

One of my community members saw 847 and launched number 848 anyway.

First 30 days: $340 MRR.

He wasn't special. Wasn't first. Wasn't even close to first.

He just built it for one specific type of person instead of everyone.

Not "people who want to build habits." That's 4 billion people, which is useless.

“Developers who need to track side project work hours and see a weekly report of where their time actually went”

That's it. One sentence. One person.

Here's the thing most people miss about crowded categories:

Every app that's ever made serious money launched into a space that already existed.

Calm built the 4th meditation app.

> Headspace was already there.
> Insight Timer was already there.
> Two others I genuinely cannot remember the names of were already there.

Calm raised $75M. 50 million users.

Not because they were first. Because the builders before them had already proven people pay for this, figured out what didn't work, and basically left a map.

Calm just read the map.

Instagram launched into a world with Flickr, Picasa, and a hundred photo-sharing apps nobody uses anymore.

Uber launched in a city full of taxis...

The pattern is the same every time.

Being first doesn't matter. Being built for the right specific person does.

So the only question worth asking isn't "does this already exist?"

It's: does this exist for the exact person I'm building for?

If that person can describe their problem in one sentence, and the 847 apps in the store aren't built specifically for them?

That's the opening.

Build the thing.
