claude code vs base44 (real test)

Everyone has a take on which AI builder is better.

I decided to stop having a take and actually test it.

Same app. Same brief. Same feature set. Built twice.

Once in Claude Code. Once in Base44.

Here's what actually happened…

Let me tell you about Claude Code first.

It writes real code. Which means when something breaks - and it will (almost guaranteed) - you need to understand why. File structure. Logic errors. Terminal commands. Debugging sessions that eat your afternoon.

The output was good. Not impressive. Just good.

And if you've never written a line of code in your life - which most people on this list haven't - Claude Code doesn't meet you where you are. It drops you in the deep end and watches.

You're not confused because you're slow. You're confused because the tool was built for someone else. And most of the time, you end up going in circles - fixing one thing, breaking two others - without ever really understanding what's happening.

That's not building. That's surviving.

Base44: I described what I wanted. It built. I tested. I adjusted.

No terminal. No file structure. No "what does this error mean."

Just the idea, and then the thing.

Three days later I had something real. Something I understood. Something I could actually show people.
